Custom-keyboard

OEM manufacturing of custom keyboards, which cannot be handled by off-the-shelf products, is one of our core products that we have cultivated over the years.

Our skilled sales staff will interview customers, and decide on detailed specifications, then support them from the beginning to the end. This includes, for example, the design of the housing and keytop, development of the internal membrane switch, production of the interface board, arrangement of molded parts, assembly, and inspection.

Although it is possible to manufacture all the parts of the keyboard originally as order-made parts, by making it semi-customized, we can manufacture custom keyboards at a relatively low cost. This is possible since we have standard products for the key top part, which is the part that requires the most know-how. We have a proven track record in a wide variety of industrial, medical, machine tool, and consumer products. We develop and manufacture all keyboards from one unit order.

Case Studies

Keyboard for parking lot payment

We manufactured this product at the request of a parking lot facility manufacturer. We used our standard parts for the key top, and custom manufactured the contact sheet (membrane switch), the upper sheet metal (the key plate), and the lower sheet metal. Since the product is to be used semi-outdoors, the sliding parts are made of dust-proof rubber, and as the key top we used a type with a transparent key cap, into which a label can be inserted so that the customer can change the characters to be displayed depending on the application. The product was developed about 15 years ago, but we are still receiving orders for it.

Illuminated keyboards to be used in medical practice

We manufactured this product at the request of a medical equipment manufacturer. Since the keyboard is often operated in the dark, they wanted the entire keyboard to glow blue so that they could see the key layout even when the lights were off. Although the development period was longer than expected, we were able to complete the keyboard with beautiful illumination. Based on the above specifications, this product was custom manufactured, with all the keyboard components, from the key tops to the frame, custom manufactured.

Machine tool operation panel

We manufactured an operation panel at the request of a machine tool manufacturer. It is a full custom keyboard with excellent oil and water resistance. Since the keyboard may be used in a harsh environment, such as room filled with cutting oil mist, we selected a structure that would not cause any problems even if it penetrated into the interior and used resin mold that is resistant to oil. Machine tools require a longer maintenance period than consumer products, but we are proud of our selves being able to respond to this request by in-house production.

Display control board keyboard for train stations

We manufactured a dedicated keyboard to operate the display control panel used at the station. The number of units manufactured was less than 10, but the initial cost was reduced by using sheet metal processing for the case, and standard products for the key tops and interface board, and the customer was very satisfied with the results.

Custom programmable keyboard

At the request of the Fire Department, we made a 48-key programmable keyboard, customized from our commercial product. We modified the frame and standard keytop for 48 keys, opened a window for LED display, and attached LEDs to the internal interface PCB to light it up. We were able to provide a special keyboard that meets the customer’s specifications without having to make a new plastic molding cast.
